Everyday Chic: Summer Concert
So, the Beach House/National concert at Prospect Park was AWESOME! First, I love both of these bands. I could listen to the albums cover to cover, which for me is a rarity. Second, the outdoor park/picnic set-up is the perfect way for me to listen to a concert. I’m not one of those people who likes to get right in the front to have a good view and dance and experience the crowd. I’m 5’2 so in order to *see* much, I REALLY need to be in the front row. Also because I’m small I feel like I get pushed around at a concert and I’m not a fan and this can lead to some serious aggravation. So, this was perfect. Lay out a blanket under the trees, relax, enjoy some time before the concert chit-chatting with my husband and friends and then listen to the tunes! Perfection!! Oh, and did I mention that the weather was in the 70’s? Hello? How awesome is that for a summer show??
My summer concert look was simple and comfortable. I knew we’d be lounging in the grass and so I wanted to be in shorts rather than a dress or skirt. But I still wanted to look cute and put together. So, I went for simplicity and I liked the outcome. This shirt has been a summer staple. Most days have been steamy and this loose, light, beautiful fabric has been perfect. I love the racer back, the cut out details and the color!
We were running a little late to get to the show so we didn’t get to take any shots before the show. So these are in the apartment and without my jewels. Which did jazz the look up a bit!
I do, however, have a confession to make. I’m not exactly showing much just yet. I do have a little extra belly going on and feel just a little thicker in the middle. I have only 2 pairs of shorts in my entire wardrobe and they do still fit. One is a brown pair and the other is a patterned pair. So, I wanted to jean short for summer days, lounging around the house, etc. I saw some really cute boyfriend shorts that I thought would be perfect, but they weren’t exactly cheap and I can’t be certain how long they will fit. So, I did it, I bought a pair of maternity jean shorts. They aren’t exactly what I was hoping for but they look cute with a longer top, they were a whopping $15, they are an appropriate length, and the maternity panel (I went with an under the belly model) is seriously comfortable. So, I think it is is a win!! I just couldn’t see spending much money on something I can likely only wear for the next month. Phew, feels good to get that off my chest!
Here is a pic of the concert - what an awesome night!!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
