Everyday Chic: Stripes, Stripes & More Stripes
I seriously can not get enough of the stripes. I love the look of stripes on top and a sweet floral print on the bottom. Great for daytime! I love the look of stripes on top (navy & white preferably) and black on the bottom. Great for classic look with a little edge! And, I love stripes for casual!! This outfit has been essentially my uniform lately. It suits perfectly the mix of things I’ve been doing.
I’ve been doing a lot of shopping. Not for myself, but getting out there to find out what is out there there - so that we are prepared for all the personal shopping that is to come in the next few weeks! The NYC weather has been a mix of hot, cool and rainy. Take of the scarf and BAM I’m ready for the warmer afternoons! But, keep it in the bag, because when the sun goes down, I always need to pop it back on!
I’ve also been doing some closet editing/ styling. Well, the thing here is that you want to look cute/fashionable but it isn’t so practical to be bee-bopping around in 5” heels and a silk blouse. We really move and shake during this process - we want gals to get the most of the time and as a result there is a lot of lifting, moving, hauling and bending! This look suits it perfectly. Put together, comfy, chic! My new look :-)
I absolutely love these shoes. They mold to your feet (though, I can’t lie, there definitely is - for me - a breaking in process but get to the other side and it’s like butter!), a little metallic adds some spunk & they just look classic!
Another must for casual chic? Keep those toes painted nicely! Nothing looks worse than the polish on your tootsies coming off! Sandal weather requires the occasional pedi and regular maintenance!!
And this one, well, I can’t help myself! Bailey always wants in the action if we are doing some indoor pics. He is in a lot of the shots because he comes flying across the room to see what is going on. He is also quite interested any time I apply a fresh coat of gloss. I think he is worried it might taste good and he is missing out some how! But, he is adorable….so I thought I’d share!!
This whole casual chic thing is a bit new to me. I used to work in a corporate, rather dressy office (for about 10 years). So my wardrobe consisted of pencil skirts, button downs, V-necks, Lady-Like blouses, belts and loads of high, high heels! Getting dressed up was something I really enjoyed. The office attire was rather traditional so I couldn’t push the envelope too far. And now, I can wear what I like, when I like. And while I still have a burning desire to wear heels every day, it simply isn’t practical. There isn’t much desk sitting and a ton more walking. I’m still playing around, adding some of my traditional pieces in with my newer eclectic & casual pieces. I’m enjoying every minute of it!
Happy Tuesday!
