Everyday Chic: Taco Night & Weekend Tales

So, truth be told, I didn’t wear this outfit this past Friday, but the Friday before that. However, we did have Taco Night both Friday’s. I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ll say it again. La Taqueria in Park Slope has the best burritos/tacos in the area, in my opinion. We like to sit at a bar and eat. It feels casual, you can hang around and have another round without feeling like you are being a table hog (and reducing the waiter/waitresses tips - which I always feel guilty about if it’s a busy Friday night!!) and we like to make friends with the bar tenders. Oh, and the draft beers are ALWAYS only $3.50 (they recently went up from $3 :-).

It was a cool evening, so I did some stripes, a fun long cardi and a jacket. Casual, cool. I liked the outcome.

Full Outfit

We managed to get one good outdoor pic of the full outfit and took the rest inside, since it was a bit dim out by the time we were heading off to dinner. I didn’t give a shout out to the shoes and handbag because those items continue to get a work out in my wardrobe and I figured might be a bit monotonous, but you can see where I wore them here and here.

The necklace also gets a lot of wear - though I don’t recall the brand/where I picked that gem up at.

Up Close

I really like the detailing on the jacket. A little puff to the sleeves, buttoned up pockets on the front and it’s cute in the back. Great find several years back at Loehmann’s. The fabric has a little weight to it as well and it’s beautifully lined and piped in red. I used to live right across the street from them. It’s the kind of place you need to frequent since they are always getting in new things and merch moves quickly.

I definitely thought you’d be able to see the details a little better, I promise to get a close up of the details the next time I wear this!

This weekend was great. The weather was perfect - sunny and in the 70’s! And, we did loads of fun things. All things that make being in Brooklyn awesome.

Saturday morning we headed to Prospect Park for a few hours of off-leash time with the dogs. They LOVE it. They do the big run with the breeze in their fur, so cute! We then stopped off at Ozzie’s for a coffee and pastry. Delicious coffee and the pastries, breads and quiche’s are even better! We had a friend’s car for the day so we made a run to drop of bags of old clothes to the Goodwill, hit up the Target & were done with all of our “errands” before 11am!! Efficiency is key, because then we got to have a fun and more relaxed afternoon! We ended up doing a burger a brew at Black Sheep Pub - also quite delish & the afternoon special of $2.50 pints isn’t bad either! They have a ton of different burger options - which we always like. We’re kind of topping people!

Saturday night Dan’s band (The Royal Chains) played a Loft Party out near the Navy Yards in Brooklyn. They played with a group called Eytan & The Embassy who were way awesome - if you have a minute you should check them out. They had horns!! I love a band with horns! Though, truthfully, these kind of party’s remind me of my age. Felt like a college party!

And Sunday, we played in the afternoon at the Park Slope 5th Avenue Street fair. I love street fairs. Though really, what’s not to love? Beer in the streets. Tastes of all sorts of delicious food. Friends. And we even saw a band (with a kick-ass drummer) of kids (I’m guessing 12 or 13?) who were rather impressive! Oh, and best part? Steve’s Key Lime Pie stand - where we got frozen key lime pie (like a full mini pie), dipped in chocolate, on a stick. Come on, does it get any better? I’ll totally be stalking this key lime pie on a stick until further notice!

I followed that up with a pot of chilli and a batch of home-made banana chocolate chip muffins.

Great weekend!!

How about all of you? Anything fun?

XoXo
