Everyday Chic: Cinco De Mayo

An outfit post, FINALLY! Yesterday was a low key day, so this was a low key outfit. The weather was lovely. Sunny and warm and it felt like a salad kind of night. We had spinach salad with fresh black berries, almonds, vermont white cheddar and just a touch of balsamic vinaigrette. DELISH!

Since it was Cinco De Mayo, we decided we should go out for just one cocktail. We tried our new favorite spot, La Taqueria on 7th Ave. in Park Slope (what’s not to love about $3 drafts and $4 tacos…..nothing, that’s what!) but considering the day, it was mobbed. So we went to our standby joint - The Sackette - drink specials + Bananagrams. Fun night!

My Mom visited last week and treated me to a new pair of shoes (Thanks Mom, I’m in love!). These are the shoes that my business partner and I fell in love with while out shopping. I love them for a lot of reasons. First, they are comfortable. I wore them out to see The Royal Chains on Tuesday night and could stand in them on the concrete floor all night with not even an ounce of pain (that is a HUGE score and I have quickly dubbed them my “show night shoes”). Second, they go with everything - low key leggings and top - check, skinnies & silk top - check, floral printed dress - check! So, you see, this will be a lot of bang for the buck. And lastly, they make me feel like a bad-ass, tough chic. Which, if you know me at all in real life, you know is just about the opposite of who I am. It’s nice to have an alter ego!

The shoes are Fiorentini + Baker. According to my favorite shoe guy (Eric on 7th) they are really well made shoes that will LAST. These shoes fit like a dream. It is seriously like a hug for your foot! They primarily do boots and I’m already looking forward to what they have for fall! If you are in Brooklyn - Eric typically carries this brand (and tons of other great stuff!).

Shoe & Bag Close Up

While I was in Ohio, I had my hair done. Fixed up the color and got a cut. I’m digging it, but I was hoping for a little heavier bang. I may need to remedy this situation. Any thoughts? I head back at the end of May, so maybe I can swing by and have them cut in a little heavier. Hmmmm.

I know this look is simple, but I love it. I’d like to have a 100 more shirts like this and make this my weekday uniform. It’s comfortable, it’s chic, it’s classic & it can be dressed up a bit with funky accessories & heels or dressed down for a trip to the farmer’s market with some ballet flats or flops. I just love the oxford button down and this one has some extra little details - metal buttons, different pockets and great stitching.

I also like doing the outdoor pics much better. It’s fun to choose a spot in the hood!

Happy Thursday!
