Everyday Chic: Dresses!! Dresses!! Dresses!!

Well, we are back from Nashville! No outfit pics, but we did immensely enjoy what was dubbed “Ultimate Weekend”. Our hosts were awesome and had planned so many fun activities. We really got a tour of all of the neighborhoods and their favorite shops/eateries. The Avenue’s reunion show was a blast and it was kind of amazing how well those guys still played together considering there was no group practice and the last reunion show was roughly four years ago! We had two outdoor BBQ’s, which, coming from NYC is pretty exciting and we got tons of baby time! Man, those kids are cute!!

The weather in Nashville was perfect. It would start out in the 60’s and end up in the high 70’s and then it would wind back down a bit. I love that kind of weather. And in that peak heat each day, I was reminded of my favorite summertime look……DRESSES! I love dresses for a variety of reasons. First, it’s so easy. Throw it on…..and go! Second, when it is HOT out, it is quite cute and still quite comfortable. Third, Dresses can be transformed (put a tee underneath, a cardigan over top, add a belt…..you catch my drift).

I have a lot of summertime dresses, many from the designers I’ve chose to share below. Here are some of my top picks for 2010.

First up……yes, ANOTHER Yumi Kim dress. I can’t help it. I love the shapes, I love the colors and I love those beautiful prints. My thighs aren’t so sleek that I would feel romper appropriate, so I would go for this dress instead. Similar shape as the romper but a little more length and flow, enough coverage to keep me comfortable. This dress is $193 and can be found here

Second, a dress by Patterson J. Kincaid. Such a sweet print and what I like best is the longer length in the back. I think this would look so sweet over some navy leggings and flats. I should warn, I tried this guy on, you definitely want to go down a size!! You can get this dress for $128 via Revolve Clothing here

Third, is a navy & tan number via Shopmamie.com. This dress is only $42 and is an easy way to evoke those nautical feelings without the stripes…..GASP!! Seems it’s been hard for everyone to stop adding stripes this summer, so I thought I’d share another option. Oh, and did I mention the exposed zipper? Love that detail. Gives preppy a little twist!

In need of a summertime, LBD? Well, this JCrew number is a beauty. This one is a little more dressy than the others, but if you have an occasion, I think it is just lovely. It’s $225 and comes in a variety of colors, incase you would rather have a little purple dress instead.

And, lastly, a dress that says…..summertime to me. Red, white and blue just makes me feel like summer! This would be perfect for a picnic, a walk in the park or a trip to get your morning coffee. So sweet. This is from Anthropologie and retails for $128.
