Everyday Chic: It’s Not My Birthday
It wasn’t my birthday, but we were going to a birthday party……so, I’m wearing a dress again! It’s clear, I’ll take any opportunity to wear a dress. It was also still in the 80’s last night, so a dress was a comfortable option.
Last night was so lovely out, we opted for outdoor shots. Such a beautiful street, all the flowers are blooming bright white and all the people are staring. I embarrass quite easily, luckily most of the passerby’s were sweet and smiling !!! Every day I read SWF’s blog and am so impressed that Terra (The Stylish White Feamle) is taking pictures on her own, in the middle of downtown Pittsburgh and in broad day light! Oh and did I mention that the pics always turn out beautifully? It’s inspiring me to get a little bolder and last night was my valiant attempt at that :-) You should definitely check her out….. especially my Pittsburgh peeps…..you will love her style and the scenery……a little slice of home!!
Last year, my Aunt had some old film of my Mom and her parents/brother & sisters put on to DVD. Which was super cool. The DVD has a variety of different events captured, but one of my favorites is a birthday party. MomMom (aka Grandma) was wearing a dress similar in shape to this one (in a plain blue, if memory serves me) with pearls while serving cake to a bunch of screaming 5 year olds. I loved that she was so dressed up for an afternoon party. It looked to me like the adults were having a grand old time and she looked quite chic in the process!
So, I took a cue from MomMom on this one! Since my dress was lighter in color, I skipped the pearls and added a vintage scarf. I really liked the outcome.
I love the mix of grey, blue and tan all together in this look. And of course, you can’t go wrong with a pop of RED!
